Classification Rank Structure BTEC All cadets follow a structured academic training program which takes around 4 years to complete. Cadets work their way up through the classifications gaining valuable knowledge for their ATC career. Each unit is followed by a multiple choice exam and our instructors are on hand to provide as much training and assistance as you need. But this isn't all classroom based training, you'll have the opportunity to practise practical skills, go on visits and generally enjoy yourself! Cadets also have the opportunity to gain promotion. This is based on their involvement and support to the Squadron. They have the opportunity to develop leadership, presentation and teaching skills at courses run by the Squadron and the Wing. As cadets reach the age of 18 and legally become adults they receive training regarding welfare and their responsibilities as adults working with young people, as well as an introduction to the adult staff possibilities available to them when they reach the age of 20. All over 18 cadets wear white tabs above their rank slides. Courses available are : Junior NCO Training (Senior cadets and new Corporals) Senior NCO Drill Instructor Course (senior Corporals and Sgt +) Instructor Cadet Course (Sgt/Flt Sgt - compulsory for promotion to CWO) Instructional Technique Course (SNCOs or staff) Adult Induction Course (for all potential and new staff) Pre-uniform Course (for those in the process of applying for a uniform post only) Back to Top |
