The Millennium Volunteers Award is available through many organisations, including local councils and youth groups. Completing the MV award through the Duke of Edinburghs Award entitles cadets to wear the DofE MV Badge.
100 hours of volunteering each MV will receive a certificate of achievement. After completing 200 hours of volunteering the MV will receive their MV badge and a Certificate of Excellence, and there is now a 500 hour award. Activities that count would be organising or running an activity, teaching a group of younger cadets, participating in an activity helping others, eg Poppy Appeal collections etc as well as any volunteering you may do with other organisations if you have agreed this before hand. You may also count any training courses which are relevant for up to 25% of your hours. To register for the MV award you must be between 16 and 25 years old. Complete a registration form available from the Squadron office and return it to Fg Off Gruchy. Since we started the scheme in Summer 2005, three cadets have achieved their 200 hour award for excellence, and another two have received 100 hour certificates. THIS SCHEME IS CURRENTLY CHANGING - THE MV AWARD IS BEING PHASED OUT - MORE DETAILS TO FOLLOW |
