Building your confidence Being smart and proud of what you do. Joining any new club is a daunting experience for anyone, but we aim to support our new cadets in a variety of ways to introduce them to the Squadron.
First class cadet training is a series of 9 modules covering a wide range of subjects including map reading and how to handle a rifle. We have an NCO dedicated to looking out for our newest recruits to ensure that everything is going well. We run at least one first class cadet "boot camp" during the year to broaden your knowledge of the corps, uniform standards, drill and discipline, and introduce you to teamwork and leadership exercises. After 6 - 8 weeks of regular attendance we will loan you all the uniform you
need except for shoes, along with hints
You will receive your record of service book from the Commanding Officer shortly after this, and be formally enrolled by the Squadron Padre at an official ceremony during the year. Many activities will be open to you as a new recruit, and those that are not will hopefully only encourage you to stay on until you are old enough, or have passed the required exams to have a go.
