The Cadet Rank Structure

Promotion as a cadet is decided by your Commanding Officer up to the rank of Flight Sergeant.  Cadet Warrant Officers are appointed by the Wing Commander following an interview with Wing Staff Officers.

When looking to promote a cadet the staff will be looking for well disciplined, smart, conscientious individuals who can show or have the potential to show leadership qualities, helping and guiding the other cadets.  As an NCO you will be a role model for other cadets to follow.

The time it takes to gain promotion will depend partly on the size and needs of your Squadron and your own personal effort and commitment.

CADET CORPORAL - This is a Junior NCO rank, you will be part of a team of NCOs running a flight team, and assisting with basic duties.
CADET SERGEANT - This is the first Senior NCO rank.  You will now have more responsibility, and be expected to show strong NCO qualities.
CADET FLIGHT SERGEANT - You will most likely be in-charge of a flight team, and often have responsibility for running and organising activities.
CADET WARRANT OFFICER - You will be one of - if not the- senior cadet on your unit providing a link between the staff and cadets and setting the standards for all other cadets to follow.  You have to be at least 18 years old and ideally a Staff Cadet to be appointed.
