After 6 months as Acting Co, Fg Off Jo Gruchy has been appointed as the Commanding Officer of 759 (Beccles) Sqn. Jo has been a member of the unit since 1992 when she joined as a cadet. She reached the rank of Cadet Warrant Officer in 1998 and was commissioned into the RAFVR(T) in 2001. She transferred to Lowestoft Squadron for a 7 month training period before returning as the Squadron Adjutant and DofE Award Officer.
Jo is very keen on adventure training and this will remain a major feature of the Squadron calendar, along with all the other activities which the unit offers.
A promotion to Flight Lieutenant accompanies the post and Jo said " I am very pleased to be commanding the unit, the cadets are fantastic and make all the hard work worth while as they are so keen to have a go at anything."
This completes a year of big changes to the unit, and the uniform team now consists of AWO Martin Dobson and CWO Tom Shea. Martin moved to the unit from Leiston at the end of 2005, and is also a former cadet from the Squadron. Tom is 19 and has recently been promoted to the highest rank the Corps offers. He has recently returned from an Exchange to Canada and a Flying Scholarship at RAF Cranwell.
