FIRST AID SUCCESS Beccles Air Training Corps has become a very safe place to be! 9 cadets from the squadron have recently passed the (YLSP) Young Life Saver Plus award, with another 14 cadets currently under training. The training is done at the squadron on a separate evening so the cadets can use this as part of their Duke of Edinburgh award. After all the training is complete the cadets will then take a written exam and a three part practical exam, for their achievement the cadets that pass will receive a certificate and a badge to wear on their uniform. Sgt Matthew Miller (16) from Thurton who was one of the first to complete the course said “It was an interesting course which has now given me the confidence and ability to deal with a situation needing First Aid should one arise”. Also four staff members have just been away for a weekend and renewed their Lifesaver Plus award!! Well done to Flt Lt Jo Gruchy, WO Martin Dobson, CI Mick Smithson, CI Ben Sparkes. First Aid is a requirement for all Adventure Training and Shooting qualified staff, and every unit is required to have at least 1 first aider. These staff are also able to teach the Young Lifesaver course to interested cadets. |
